Quilts by Lois Tornquist Smith

Below are selected photos of quilts by Lois Smith.  She was a well-recognized quilter, fabric artist, author, and teacher and loved traveling the world to teach quilting classes or judge a show.   

These photos are from a book her family created showing 175 quilts she made over a period of 40+ years.  The book includes information on each quilt including, for almost all of them, her words describing the artistic inspiration or meaning of the quilt.  It is amazing to see her progression in technique and artistry throughout her "career".

We have given talks (and displayed a group of quilts) to several quilting groups since she passed in 2020, with a theme of "Quilting Lessons Learned and Advice from a Non-Quilter".
